Don't Miss 4th of July in Harbor Country!

New Buffalo Fireworks Spectacular. Get your spot ready at the Lions Park Pavilion in downtown New Buffalo to watch as a colorful fireworks show lights up the skies over New Buffalo’s lakefront beach! Scheduled to begin at 10 P.M., this patriotic display has long been a favorite among both permanent and seasonal residents throughout Harbor Country. 

Lakeside Independence Day Parade. Join friends and neighbors at 12 P.M. sharp at Lakeside Park (at Red Arrow Highway) for its annual celebratory Independence Day parade. Whether you plan to decorate your bicycle and ride in the procession or you prefer to watch it all from the sidelines, the Lakeside Independence Day Parade is a family-friendly event full of patriotic cheer!

New Buffalo 4th of July Celebration. New Buffalo’s renowned 4th of July beach celebration is not to be missed. Going through July 7th, this week-long party is sure to have something for everyone! From live music on the beach and free outdoor family movie screenings to volleyball tournaments and stand-up paddle-boarding demonstrations, a variety of activities will appeal to a wide range of tastes and interests.

Celebrate the 4th Along Lake Michigan's Shoreline!

It’s hard to believe that summer is here and that 4th of July celebrations are just around the corner!  Our nations’ birthday is often a highlight of the summer season for many and, for those living or vacationing along the Lake Michigan Shoreline; you won’t be disappointed!

- Evanston’s 4th of July celebration has been taking place since 1921 and has been a favored event ever since! The Evanston 4th of July Association is run completely by volunteers and is supported through generous donations of Evanston residents, local businesses and organizations, which means no tax dollars are used!  This fun-filled day will feature children’s games, a tennis tournament, parade, live music, fireworks and much more!  To view the entire schedule, please visit the Evanston 4th of July Association website.

Wednesday, July 4th at 9pm

- Join Chicago’s best loved tourist attraction, Navy Pier, for an night of Independence Day Fireworks!  This is a great opportunity for those visiting to experience a true Chicago landmark, and for locals to gather with family and friends to enjoy this exceptional display of fireworks.  Dinner cruises launching from Navy Pier, such as The Odyssey or Mystic Blue Cruises, are also a fun way to take in the evenings festivities.  Check out the Navy Pier website for more information!

Tuesday, July 3rd through Saturday, July 7th

- New Buffalo knows how to celebrate the 4th of July by offering five days of great events!  On Tuesday, listen to the sounds of the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra and watch fireworks on the beach at 10pm.  Wednesday offers you a chance to gather with family and friends for your own traditional celebrations whether you spend the day at New Buffalo’s beautiful shores or grilling out.  The excitement continues Thursday through Saturday with a Volleyball Tournament, live music on the beach, free rides at Lion’s Park, a free family movie night and much more!  View the full schedule of events on the New Buffalo website and pick your favorites to enjoy.

Celebrate the 4th of July along Lake Michigan's Shoreline!

July 4 events beginning at 8am

- The 2011 Parade in Evanston, themed Sun and Fun in Evanston for Today's Youth, will start at 2pm and wind from Central Park Avenue East on Central Street. There will be various activities, such as playground sports, throughout Evanston throughout the day that offer fun for the whole family. The Twilight Concert will play from 7:30pm to 9:00pm and the Lakefront Fireworks, launched from Clark Street Beach, will start at 9:15pm!

- While there won’t be any fireworks in Grant Park this year, the famed Navy Pier will carry the 4th of July torch with their own fireworks display!  You’ll enjoy watching fireworks over Lake Michigan and can take part in all that Navy Pier has to offer!

- All of Harbor County is invited to take part in this free, fun-filled weekend!  From surfing, volleyball and live music, to games, sand castle building contests and much more; this weekend is a great way to take part in the Harbor County community.  Fireworks will take place on Sunday, July 3 at dusk.
